Fashion week! It’s been interesting. A few kerfuffles, some scheduling botches, but overall not bad. Because of school I’m working a lot less than I usually do, so this past weekend was my only ridiculous shift (40 hours between friday morning and sunday night). I’m not done yet, but I do have the evening free, which is lovely.
The snowstorm! Was not really a storm, I think. But it was good! I got my wish, at least temporarily, of regular inch or so snow, with a foot or so every now and then. I was working for most of the storm, though I did walk from 37th and 10th to 40th and 5th in the middle of it. When I left the library at midnight, it was still going, and the lions were covered in snow.
When I went back to work the next morning it had stopped, and I got to wade through all the unshoveled, unbroken snow. There’s something really satisfying, and really sacrilegious, about being the first person to walk on new snow. Then I stayed inside for the next 37 hours. Booo. Interestingly, on my walk to the train that morning, I passed my favorite house that has been empty for at least two years (and if I win the lottery I’m going to buy it) and its sidewalks had been shoveled. Neither of the adjoining houses had. Very odd.
Three more days of this mess, then a couple of finals, and then I’m free for a week! I plan on sleeping, walking in the park and mapping it with my gps app, and reading fiction. It’s going to be great. At the moment, it is time for bed. I had yesterday mostly free aside from school, and that relaxed me enough to get sick, so now I have the terrible sore throat and malaise. I’m eating cough drops by the bag and drinking tea by the liter (this is almost true, my boyfriend has a giant mug that holds 24oz, a liter is about 33) and hopefully I will beat this back.
